Our GRP design, fabrication, and installation company recently completed a project for Pfizer, delivering a DDA-compliant yellow GRP Handrail with grey posts. The handrail spans 72.7m, including sections of 2.7m and two 4.2m on stairs. Designed to withstand a load of 0.74 kN, the handrail features top fixed GRP box section stanchions with steel base plates, ensuring compliance with part M of the building requirements. The TouchSafe handrail offers a warm-to-touch feel, is long-lasting, and provides a modular GRP solution for stairs, ramps, and walkways.

Problem/Challenge

Pfizer faced the challenge of meeting DDA regulations for handrails around the building, requiring a compliant solution that adheres to the exacting standards of part M of the building requirements. The need for a handrail spanning various sections, including stairs, added complexity to the project. Relinea provided a comprehensive solution by designing, fabricating, and installing a DDA-compliant yellow GRP Handrail with grey posts for Pfizer. The handrail not only meets the demanding load requirements but also complies with the stringent regulations outlined in part M of the building requirements.

The TouchSafe handrail offers a warm-to-touch feel and has a 50+ year design life, providing a modular GRP solution suitable for stairs, ramps, and walkways. The top fixed GRP box section stanchions with steel base plates ensure stability and durability. The modular handrail components, produced in lightweight fiberglass sections, facilitated easy transportation, handling, and on-site installation using standard hand tools, saving time and cost for Pfizer.

Our DDA handrail design pays attention to every detail, from the continuous 42mm diameter handrail to the high-visibility yellow finish. The handrail is not only compliant now but ensures ongoing compliance into the future.
