From Paris With Love

Great to see our installation team hard at work and loving life! Kieran and Allistair are currently in Paris, installing our  GRP platform flooring in the water tank room of a Data Centre.

This project required us to put a raised GRP platform with GRP handrails and GRP steps in to allow access to cabinets and water tanks. As the cabinets were at a height off the ground, the flooring was raised to 410mm. As can be seen from the photos, this was in quite a confined space.

The architect on this project requested that the steps be made to French building regulations, so our design team used Blondel’s Law Formula to ensure adherence. The French architect Francois Blondel (1618 – 1686) is likely to have been the first to measure the human step and use it as a base for his formula, which is still being used today! The formula he developed determines the correct dimensions of a comfortable and efficient staircase according to its use.

This is just a small part of the work we are currently doing in this Data Centre; we have also been installing our GRP Riser Void system, access ladders, and handrails throughout the building. With the Data Centre sector committed to becoming climate neutral by 2030, our sustainable GRP products and services are the ideal solution. Working in partnership, Relinea can support you right through from project inception, giving cost-effective and pragmatic advice, to final design and installation.
